Projects at the GWDC
Current and Future Projects
To further our mission, we are anticipating the Spring 2019 opening of exhibits to highlight the complex inter-relationships of predators, prey, and habitats. The North American River Otter Riparian Exhibit is a complex system of ponds, streams, and terrain which will allow visitors a rich understanding of the diverse relationships between grizzly bears, grey wolves, and representative species in a typical riparian habitat. A “green-built” indoor facility will include underwater and habitat viewing of river otters and cutthroat trout, as well as classroom and additional exhibit space.
Eight new bear dens will be the first step toward saving more bears from being euthanized in the surrounding area. A new outdoor bear habitat is under construction on the remaining acre of undeveloped GWDC land.
Our vision is to tell the story of river otters, cutthroat trout, and other riparian species, and why their habitat matters to grizzly bears and grey wolves that will inspire the health and survival of the ecosystem as a whole.
