Turn Your Visit Into a Wild Adventure by Adding a Behind-the-Scenes Tour to Your Itinerary

Get an exclusive glimpse into the worlds of GWDC grizzly bears and otters with this in-depth tour where you get an up-close look at some of the most fascinating animals of the Yellowstone Ecosystem. This, walking tour explores the creation and remarkable growth of the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.  You’ll be privy to getting an inside look at how the keepers care for our resident animals. Your ticket includes admission to the GWDC and an approximately 1 ½-hour tour of the facility. Tour guests do not enter exhibits or touch the animals.

Details and Pricing:

• $100.00 per person. Starting January 1, 2026 $125 per person.
• Tours times vary depending on availability. Tours are offered Monday thru Thursday excluding holidays
• Limit 4 people per tour
• Guests must be 10 years of age or older / children under 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult
• Payment due at the time of the tour / no refunds or rescheduling opportunities will be given for no-call/no-shows

• Reservations made at least one month in advance are preferred. Reservations made within a month prior to the tour may be accommodated based on availability.

During your tour:

• You will enter the bear den building and meet some of the grizzly bears that are off-exhibit
• You will enter the otter holding area and meet some of the otters that are off-exhibit
• You will learn why the animals are here and how they are cared for on a daily basis
• Enjoy a sneak peek of the new bear den building

Know Before You Go:

• The tour is an indoor and outdoor walking tour. Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since you may get wet or muddy.
• No cameras, video equipment or mobile phones may be used throughout the duration of the tour
• Locations visited on your tour are subject to change without notice
• Please check in at the admissions desk 15 minutes before the tour to sign waivers
• No talking to the animals
• Contact with the animals is prohibited
• Food is prohibited during the tour
• Service animals are not permitted to prevent undue stress on the GWDC animals
• The tour guide reserves the right to end the tour at any time. Examples: guest not following rules, stress level of the animals.
• The GWDC reserves the right to cancel any tour due to unforeseeable animal health, weather or staffing issues. In case of such an event, we will contact you to reschedule
• Please note that while all of our public spaces and guest amenities are fully accessible, some of the behind-the-scenes areas visited through the tour may not be.
